Lighting for our music video..

Lighting
when we went out for searching locations we also took notice of the lighting and how we can use them in our music video. here are the notes we made.

  • Lighting is important in a music video because it can present the conventions of the its genre for examples low key lighting from heavy metal genre. It can lead on the audience to carry on watching the music video if the lighting appeals to them.
  • The teenage audience who enjoy pop music may like to see some neon lighting and colourful lights in the music video because it connotes fun and a party environment. This idea is associated with clubs, bars, house parties etc. In our music video we want to create this fun filled environment in order to create this the lighting has to be spot on.

Red Lion Pub Stairs

  • The Red Lion pubs has some neon lighting  on the stairway, the colours are different in every  passage of the stairs. We want to use this location when we to show the artist going to a party with her friends, the lighting therefore will back up the idea that it is a party.

  • In this bar there are good bright lighting all around like the one you see above the portrait. This light also changes its colour every few seconds kind of like a disco ball changing its colour. So we already have lights and wont be needing any lamps, we have the tall/high lighting we need for this scene.

  • Cyberdog was one of our favorite locations because of the lighting which is all glowing in the dark.
  • These are all clubbing techno clothing but carry the main theme of party which we want to represent.
  • Because we still haven't got a reply for permission it means we arnt not sure if we can add this shopping scene in.

  • In the green wall studio we used our own lighting instead of relying on natural light and fixed lights.
  • This gave us more control on where we wanted the light to be shinning on and it allowed us to moved the lighting into different position/angles for different outcome.

The Bar Roof

  •  At the bar roof we had a lot of natural lighting and we planned on leaving it with just that one source of lighting because it was clear when filming. This is because we will be filming during the day and when its sunny.
  • This sunny and happy mood links with the Rita Ora 'hot right now' music video out in the open. Although it wont be so hut but sunny we can associate the lyrics 'hot right now' with the sunshine

  • we had a problem with the pub owner of red lion because he claimed to have received unexpected booking and wouldn't be ideal for us. This did stop up to find a location for the last scene in our music video. We went back to look at the restaurant which also had a bar inside.

  • In the location the lighting is bright and reflects off the white wall, ceiling, furniture's etc. We are going to film during the day so we can get natural sunlight too in the video like in Rita Ora's music video Hot Right Now. We want a lot of light because sunlight is associated with fun and happiness which is what we want our audience to feel. This atmosphere and feeling links to the narration of the music video and the last scene where the artist is hanging out with her friend at the bar socialising. This convention of sunshine, bright colours are used in many pop music videos such as Jessi J- Price Tag, Nicki Minaj - Starships etc. They all create a

  • In southbank the on lighting used will be natural sunlight and we want to film on a sunny day so it again creates a happy mood. some parts of southbank has no roof its going to be lighter.
